Ten Large-Cap Reporters Beat EPS Estimates, Led by PLD and AA

Ten U.S.-listed companies with market values of at least $10 billion reported quarterly results on Thursday, Oct. 15, and all ten posted earnings per share above consensus estimates, according to FMP data. Revenue was more mixed: five of the ten exceeded forecasts and five came in slightly below.

Financial companies made up most of the list. SCHW reported EPS of $1.69 against a $1.65 estimate, on revenue of $7.17 billion versus a $7.18 billion forecast. PNC earned $5.09 per share versus $4.91 expected, with revenue of $6.56 billion against a $6.61 billion estimate. BNY posted EPS of $2.37 versus $2.27 and revenue of $5.68 billion versus $5.55 billion. USB reported $1.34 a share against $1.32, with revenue of $7.97 billion versus an $8.00 billion estimate.

IBKR's EPS of $0.67 edged past the $0.668 estimate, and revenue of $1.91 billion topped the $1.86 billion forecast. MRSH reported $2.03 per share against $1.97, with revenue of $6.86 billion versus $6.64 billion. FHN earned $0.53 per share against $0.524 expected, on revenue of $883 million versus $889.18 million.

Outside finance, PLD reported EPS of $1.60, more than double the $0.777 estimate, on revenue of $2.39 billion versus $2.18 billion. AA earned $1.82 per share against $1.51 expected, though revenue of $3.70 billion trailed the $3.77 billion estimate. JBHT posted EPS of $1.82 versus $1.81 and revenue of $3.68 billion against $3.59 billion.

The financials sector ETF XLF rose 1.38% on the day. None of the ten reporting companies appeared among the day's five largest large-cap gainers or decliners. The earnings calendar does not indicate whether results were released before or after the trading session.
