PG, LMT and VLO Top Estimates; PHM, NVR and SNA Miss

A large group of U.S.-listed companies valued at $10 billion or more reported quarterly results on Thursday, Oct. 22, according to FMP. Most exceeded earnings-per-share estimates, while PCG, VRSN, PHM, SNA and NVR came in below consensus.

PG reported EPS of $2.00 against a $1.88 estimate, on revenue of $23.28 billion versus $22.80 billion. Its shares rose 5.58% to 165.59, among the day's largest large-cap gains. LMT earned $7.97 per share versus $7.52 expected, with revenue of $20.71 billion against $20.48 billion. UNP posted EPS of $3.53 against $3.47, and NSC $3.62 against $3.46.

VLO reported EPS of $23.90 versus a $21.17 estimate, on revenue of $46.10 billion against $42.71 billion. WDC earned $4.64 per share against $4.11, NEM $2.20 against $1.96, and BX $1.32 against $1.26. CMCSA posted $1.07 versus $0.986, and HON $2.27 versus $2.17. BE reported EPS of $0.94 against $0.691, with revenue of $1.24 billion versus $1.07 billion, and FIX earned $13.91 against $12.85.

Among results below consensus, NVR reported EPS of $89.45 against a $102.77 estimate, with revenue of $2.40 billion versus $2.57 billion. PHM earned $2.53 per share against $2.65, on revenue of $3.97 billion versus $4.15 billion. SNA reported $4.64 against $4.93, VRSN $2.41 against $2.46, and PCG $0.41 against $0.4133.

The results arrived as QQQ fell 2.86% and consumer staples (XLP) rose 3.31%. The calendar does not indicate whether each report came before or after the session.
