NKE Beats EPS Estimate but Revenue Trails; MKC Tops Both

Two large-cap companies reported quarterly results on Thursday, October 1, 2026, according to the earnings calendar, with both exceeding per-share estimates. The calendar does not indicate whether the reports came before or after the trading session.

NKE reported earnings of $0.48 per share, compared with a consensus estimate of about $0.43. The difference of roughly $0.05 per share put earnings 10.83% above the estimate. Revenue, however, came in at $11.21 billion, below the $11.32 billion forecast. That shortfall amounted to about $107.44 million, or 0.95% below expectations. NKE has a current market capitalization of about $55.40 billion in the data set.

MKC, whose results also appear under the separate listing MKC-V with identical figures, reported earnings of $0.86 per share against an estimate of $0.755, a beat of 13.91%. Revenue was $2.02 billion, compared with a $1.98 billion estimate, about $48.66 million, or 2.46%, above expectations.

Neither NKE nor MKC appeared among the five largest gainers or decliners in the tracked large-cap universe for the day. The largest move in that universe belonged to ACN, which rose 15.78%.

In percentage terms, MKC's per-share surprise of 13.91% was the larger of the two, while NKE was the only one of the reports with revenue below the consensus estimate.

The reports came on a day when SPY rose 0.18% and the ISM manufacturing PMI for September came in at 54.5, slightly below the 55 estimate. Initial jobless claims were 197 thousand.
